News Flash News Flash News Flash

Hi and boy wait till you see how grown up we are now! We have an awesome new site strictly for our corner of the world, you and me. Our own place to find free patterns, chat with the designers and order your calendar. We are very proud and thank Emily for the work she site.has put into this

If you want to go sneak a peek, follow this link http://www.dishclothcalendar.com/ and it will take you to our new home.

The prices this year for the calendar are $16 for a download copy and $18 for a printed copy (the extra $2 help to cover my printing costs.) Shipping for the printed copies works like this: $5 shipping and handling for the first calendar you order and $2 additional shipping for each additional calendar you order. So for example, one printed calendar costs $23 (18+5) and two calendars would cost a total of $43 (18+18+5+2).

Availability: The download copy will be available for purchase on September 5th, the day we officially launch the calendar. If you want to place a Pre-Order for a printed copy, we are taking orders starting today, August 14th. Everyone who places a Pre-Order for the calendar between now and our official launch of the calendar on September 5th will receive a free gift mailed with their order. It is our way of saying thank you to help us get started this year. Pre-Orders might start shipping before September 5th, but I'm not going to promise in case I run into some last minute issues.

If you are ordering more than one printed calendar you have two options. You can either contact me to tell me how many calendars you want and I will send you an invoice or you can order through our automated process but you will need to add the additional calendars to the shopping cart one at a time. For example: I want three calendars, how do I complete this? Go to the page that has all the 2010 calendars listed. Put the first one in the shopping cart...you will see it listed in the cart to the right. Scroll down and add the one marked "Second Printed Copy" and then scroll down and add the the one marked "Third Printed Copy". When you check out, make sure you see three calendars listed in the shopping cart. We had to do it that way to discount the shipping on the additional calendars. Payment is made through PayPal and you will be prompted for a shipping address if you do not have one set up. Simple as that!

There will be a raffle held on October 15th. All the people who purchased a calendar will automatically be entered in the drawing. We will select 3 lucky winners to receive the following prizes:

1st Prize: Gift basket filled with yarn. This basket can be used for you to make up a gift using your own items to include in the basket for a friend or maybe your mom. The second prize is 3 skeins of yarn with a pair of knitting needles that say "I Love Knitting" and third prize is 3 skeins of yarn.

We are ssoooo excited, if you have any questions I am available and if I can't answer it I will have Emily respond to your request. You can contact me directly at jnogle@cox.net

Thanks for your support.

Calendar Update Jul 31st

Gifts From The Heart...Back to Basics

Just a few things. You will see some info shared several times and it just means that I want to give everyone a chance to see it.

When will the calendar be available for purchase?
We are hoping to have our Kick Off on September 5th...it isn't that far away and I still have lots to do yet.

Can we Pre-Order the Printed Version?
Yes, the Pre-Order date for anyone wanting to pre-order the printed version is August 15th with directions hitting this blog sometime between August 12-14th.

How much will the calendar cost?
The download version will be $16, the printed version (including shipping) will be $23. For those who order more than one printed calendar, there will be reduced shipping cost for additional calendars being shipped to the same address.

A few more photos for today. You have to love the first one, this little guy is SUCH a ham, but an adorable ham :) Yes, you are right, our sexy little model is back again this year with his newest item, he has bedroom eyes, which is OK, because he is in his, uh uh bed!!! And yes, you too can be the proud owner of this great looking bed. The pattern for the doggie/kitty bed will be in our calendar. Alli did a great job of coming up with this bed that all pets would be proud to have. You can see more of Alli other creations at http://knitwitsalley.tripod.com/

I think I mentioned at the last update or the one prior that Cathy Fuller Waldie would be joining us this year. If you are not familiar with Cathy (haha, who isn't) you can see her work at http://wishingiwasknitting.blogspot.com/. Cathy has a kitchen set in our calendar and it is really pretty. It includes a cloth, placemat, towel and bag holder. Check it out below:

That is all for now, I will do another update next week.

Calendar Update July 28, 2009

Gifts From The Heart....Back to Basics

Just a note to let everyone know what is taking place with our calendar. We are in the process of setting up a calendar website and getting ready for the kickoff that will take place in September. We will be taking advance orders for those wanting the printed version in mid August so watch the news for more info on that.

I have a series of blocks that remind me of quilts long ago when they were hand made. This one is called "Skies Over New York" and reminds me of birds soaring in the sky. I have one more block called Western Sun that I will show at a later date.

Alli Barrett has had designs in our calendar every year it has been published and is a charter designer for sure. She always comes up with beautiful designs. This one is called "Starlit" and I love the stitching done with this one. You can see her other designs at http://knitwitsalley.tripod.com/

You will see more information about pricing, kick off give aways and calender completion in the next few updates.
Thanks for your support.

Update 2010 Calendar (July 19)

Gifts From The Heart...Back to Basics
Hi Everyone, I wanted to share a few more photos of patterns that you will see in the 2010 Knitting Calendar. I have been a bit busy trying to put things together. Some news for you about the calendar...we will soon have our own website, that is sssoooo awesome and I am so excited. Emily is doing such a good job for us! The other news is that Cathy from http://wishingiwasknitting.blogspot.com/2007/12/christmas-lace-dishcloth.html (I love that cloth) will be joining us this year. This girl has more talent in her little finger than I have in my whole body :) You will see what she has in store for us a little later.

Sue Schaefer is another very talented lady that does beautiful designs and you can see all of her creations at http://harvestmoonupperroom.blogspot.com/. I introduced her Market Bag to you last week but get a load of this beautiful cloth she has come up with. The name of this cloth is "There Is No Place Like Home" and I love the little houses. Everyone has done such a good job of sticking to the theme this year.

The other cloth I am showing you this time is another one of Lindys cloth, it is very delicate and lacy. Lindy's blog is located at
http://madebylindy.blogspot.com/. She is one of our younger designers and has a great amount of creativity and talent. This is the second year Lindy has joined our group and she always has a lot of originality in her work. The name of her cloth is "Sweetheart".

I will present more pattern photos next week and notify everyone when the new website is done.

Calendar Update July 10th

Hi everyone, I wanted to get this out to everyone before the weekend got started and I was involved with other things.

This year I have contracted Cindy Moore to develop a gift card for us to go along with our theme. There is also a pattern enhancement on the card. Cindy does a really nice job with designing the cards.

We will have a bonus section in the calendar again this year. This section will be dedicated to "sets". It could be cloth and towel sets, bathroom sets, just anything with more than one item. My set is a cloth and towel set and it is pictured here and named after one of my sisters. It is called "Shirley Two Heart and Moss Set". Photos don't always show true colors. The Washcloths are done in hot pink and light pink (looks like white) and the towel is done in hot pink.

The other design is from Sue Schaefer called "Land and Sea Market Bag". I love this design, it really brightens the bag. Sue always brings us really bright and useful items. You can visit Sue at : http://www.harvestmoonupperroom.blogspot.com/

Enjoy your weekend

Calendar Update July 5 2009

Gifts From The Heart.....Back to basics

I guess our theme could mean different things to different people. When I hear "back to basics", I think of my grandmother years ago when she had a wood burning stove and would not get any new fan dangle (I know THAT is not a word) appliances and still had a feather bed. That was when you lived in the country and wanted to move to the city because things MUST have been better there (haha). Looking back now, that was one of the best times in my life when things were a little more simpler and the family ties were much closer.

Speaking of my grandmother, I remember her quilting and how labor intensive it was but what a beautiful piece of work it ended up being. I decided this year I would make a series called Quilts Americana depicting different parts of our country/states. This one is called "Colors Of The Southwest". The yarn color comes alive and is warm and vibrant. It is Peaches N Creme's "Premium" yarn and the color is "Spice" and "Deep Red".

The second one I wanted to show you is adorable. Susan Mrenna designed a cloth that has a home with a heart in it. How perfect that is for this year's theme. The cloth is actually called Heart and Home.
I think so far I have announced 10 patterns that will be in our 2010 calendar and I still have more to show you, some I haven't received yet. I think you will like all that we are putting together. I don't know how many I have total yet, waiting on some feed back from designers before I can announce the total.
Have a good week :)

Calendar Update June 30th

"Gifts From The Heart...
Back to Basics"

This week I am showing another set from Elaine Fitzpatrick. It is her Kitty Bib and cloth set. Our cat lovers will love this one :) You can visit Elaine at: http://downcloverlaine.blogspot.com/aine.blogspot.com/

I am also showing a cloth done by Lindy called "Hullabaloo". Hullabaloo means an uproar or fuss and is also tied to several places of business. It is bright, colorful and cheery and has it's own personality. A beautiful mix of colors. This is one cloth you will knit again and again. You can visit Lindy at http://madebylindy.blogspot.com/

I will have more photos in the next few, have a great 4th of July.

Calendar Update June 21, 2009

Well it is already mid June, graduation time - Home Comings - Prom time...while we are on the subject of June events, staying in line with our theme of "Gifts From The Heart....Back to Basics" this week's featured designer is Debbie of Debbie's Knit N Sew Studio (http://www.knitnsewstudio.com/). She has been featured in the last two calendars as far as Internet Sites to visit because of her very popular Knit Dish Cloth Dress, we refer all kinds of people from our Monthly Dishcloth group to her site all the time. You can view that design at: http://www.knitnsewstudio.com/knit_dish_cloth_dress.htm.

The design in our calendar this week is called "Prom Date Dress" and it is adorable. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. It has been a while since I have attended a prom but this certainly reminds me of some of the styles you might find for prom dresses.

I have been receiving some of the finished patterns and all of them really fit in well with our theme and the type of patterns that I believe most of you will enjoy. I judge patterns quite easy, If it is a pattern I would want to knit then it is accepted, if it is a pattern that I might not spend my time knitting then it is rejected.

Next week I will have photos of the remainder of Elaine Fitzpatrick designs. Last week her little puppies were featured. Next week you will see the rest of her animal collection :)

Calendar Update - June 11, 2009

2010 Calender Update:

I wanted to just update everyone with where our Calendar stands right now and what is going on. I have received some of the items already and I have added a photo below so you can see more of what is in our calendar. The photo to the left is about how far we have come in the last 20 or so years. I received them when I purchased some knitting books from Ebay and this was part of the package. These patterns were from 1950-1975 era. Talk about back to basics.....some of these patterns were of household items but the majority of the patterns were clothing for women and children.

One of Elaine Fitzpatrick's designs for this years calendar is for the younger set. A beautiful cloth and bib set, this is one set and there is another set you will see a little later. You animal lovers will love them both I am sure.

Elaine had an adorable set last year as well. She comes up with the cutest designs.

There will be quite a few sets for 2010 because our theme is wrapped around gifts, no pun intended, it makes sense to put a few sets together for our loved ones and friends. You will be able to mix them with your favorite designs that you already enjoy making that are not in this calendar. You can mix heart sets from other sites and diamond sets so we don't want to limit you to working with "just" the designs in our calendar, you can find other designs on the Internet that would work well with these designs as well.

Our freeby cloth for our kick off was designed by Sue Schaefer and is beautiful. I was going to wait until next time to show you a photo of it, but I am going to share it with you now. It is pictured in a solid yarn and a variegated yarn and is called "All Hearts Lead To Home". Sue always has beautiful designs.

That is all for now, I will post more photos when I receive the items. Thanks for your support.

Calendar Update-May 15th

Well it is the middle of May already and I guess some of you are planning your vacations for this summer. I am busy figuring out the calendar format, items and information to share with you and what our raffles will look like.

One of the raffles will include this cute little pair of knitting needles that say "I Love Knitting" and both needles have the face of a little kitty cat. These are really really cool needles. Some of the other raffles will include a tote bag, yarn and misc items. This is going to be an awesome give-away this time so stay tuned and visit often.

I can tell you that we have some exceptional items for our knitters and a lot of gift items for small budgets, some money saving ideas and gifts that people will use.

Jo Ellyn is working on this awesome tote to knit that is so pretty, you will want to make more than one. She is so talented and we are fortunate that she wanted to participate again.

We will have some "Quest Designers" that will participate this year. Two have been selected so if you design household items, please contact me we are looking for those that would like to have something published but don't know where to start.

I will share more info on what we will be presenting in a week or so, stay tuned.

"Gifts From The Heart"...Back to basics

In going along with our theme this year, I am trying to come up with things from past era's that people are interested in. There will be lots of information to share in our calendar that I think most people will be interested in and some new items that will work together with other things you already have or patterns that you can mix and match with the patterns you currently have.

I just love Debbie's "Dress Dishcloth" from http://knitnsewstudio.com/knit_dish_cloth_dress.htm. Our members at MonthlyDishcloth ask for that site more than any others. I didn't see a towel that compliments the cloth so I decided to design one and of course I wanted it to also fit in with our theme so I decided on something from the past and "Gone With The Wind" came to mind. I just loved all of Scarlett's dresses and clothes and thought our towel should be fancy too. There will be several ways of finishing it as far as closures and ways for it to drape over a stove or refrigerator. Debbie will be joining us this year with a beautiful new addition to her family of designs and it will work right in with our towel.

There is still time for those that are interested to submit one of their household designs to be considered for our 2010 calendar, so if you have a design you want to share, contact me at jnogle@cox.net and I will let you know what you will need to do.

More later.................................

2010 Knitting Calendar Information and Opportunity

Gifts From The Heart...back to basics

I was putting together a few things for one of my sisters, who recently moved, for her to have at her new home and it dawned on me that "back to basics" was really appropriate, simple gifts, handmade gifts, thoughtful gifts...with the financial strain everyone is feeling "made" gifts are really back to the forefront. It is funny how things evolve, I even saw a Lava Light recently for those of you who don't know what that is, it is something that was really hot years ago and everyone one had one. It seems some of the things we grew up with are returning.

Showing people how to present and put gifts together economically makes sense. There are so many opportunities to use other containers, baskets, boxes at little or no cost that it makes sense to recycle some items. These are items that everyone needs and uses. We can share ideas and ways on saving in other areas too. There will be more on those subjects a little later.

OPPORTUNITY.....In the past, the regular designers have referred other people they thought were talented to me and we have used their items and this worked out really well. This year, I want to try something a little different. I don't know who is talented out there and I am sure our designers aren't aware of everyone so.....we are going to open up this opportunity to everyone out there this year by asking those that are interested to submit a design for any household item, knitted or crochet and three individuals will be selected as "guest designers". For those interested, send me a note and I will give you further information. My email is jnogle@cox.net I think this is a great opportunity for those that wanted to have something published but didn't know how to go about it.

More later on the calendar, be thinking about the opportunity of submitting a pattern!

New Calendar Blog

Gifts From The Heart

Back To Basics

I have established a different blog to be used for our new calendar for 2010. I will be adding some photos of patterns you will see in the upcoming calendar. If you would like to get an idea of what this calendar is all about, please visit last year's blog at: http://2009knittingcalendar.blogspot.com/. You will be able to look at the type of patterns that appear in our calendar. I can tell you the theme of the calendar for 2010. It will be "Gifts From The Heart". There will be lots of information about gift giving and how to package and present gifts to others. Be watching for more information later.

The above photo is one of the patterns you will see in the calendar. The cloth is "blocked" hearts in line with this year's theme.
